Adolescent is an exciting, dynamic chapter of life, in part prewritten and in part unwritten, a mix of fixed personality traits and freedom in character making.
A silent corner is a place where I contemplate as a learner, not knower. I have a long journey as a reading teacher and many students come and go. Yet, I yearn a youthful heart, which helps to soothe my cranky face. I have a place where my tired body sits and relaxes so I can listen intuitively within. These moments of reflection shaped what I am: Students proudly introducing me as “my teacher.” My students still continue teaching me as I negotiate their myriad paths toward becoming better readers and responsible citizens.
Absolutely, RJ!
